Issue 4 of KAMUKE Ukulele Magazine

Here's a link to that Australian published magazine I was telling you about last Tuesday.

http://kamuke.com/

Issue 4 of KAMUKE Ukulele Magazine
has landed and is available now either individually or as part of a subscription
(see left).

The 36-page issue features an EXCLUSIVE interview with Hawaiian jazz great BENNY CHONG, as well as shorter chats with VICTORIA VOX, RALPH SHAW and
San Diego luthier PEPE ROMERO JR.

ARTHUR GODFREY takes his rightful place in the Hall of Fame and we get a
good look at an absolutely stunning 1930 MARTIN 5K in 'Uke-In-Focus'.

And there's a NEW SECTION! In response to readers wanting playing advice, we've introduced a 'Pro Tip' page where we aim to bring you handy hints from the world's best. In our first installment, Benny Chong presents '4 Bar Turn-Arounds (Vamps) For Intros And Inbetween Verses' in C major.

Happy reading and thanks for supporting KAMUKE!

TUG Song list for Tuesday the 9th‏

Hi all, just some house keeping before I get into the songlist.
This is for our get together at the next Queens Park Market on the 21st of Oct.
We get a site for the entire morning so I and anyone else who wants to volunteer will stake our claim at 7am and we can have 20 to 30min sessions from the top of the hour. That's 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 am. 12:00 noon if we're still keen. Also seeing as we are there all morning we should do our best to promote TUG so any ideas or suggestions on how we go about that would be welcome. If anyone has some A framed black or white boards we can use them to write info on, would be a help.

Now the songlist.
There was a few songs from the last songlist that we didn't get around to last time so I'll give them another run as for the rest, happy strumming.

Bad Girls and Mean Women Songbook

Uke Hunt (awesome ukulele site) posted a link to this little book, Bad Girls and Mean Women Songbook, and seeing as I was brought up with my farther playing, 'Aboard the good ship Venus,' it more than piqued my curiosity.

Costing me only 12.50 delivered to my door I couldn't resist, so here I am eagerly awaiting delivery.

It says on the website, "Ooooolala... This is a very naughty songbook indeed! This little black book contains 10 songs, some dating back as far as the 1600's, that are so raunchy that they would make Snoop Dog blush. Each song has both the ukulele chords and the musical score. Also included are 2 recipes and 5 potions plus a fold-out ukulele chord chart.
WARNING: ADULT CONTENT!."

If you want your own copy just follow the link above.

Cheers
Stewart.

Song list, take 2, for the 28th of August.

Song list, take 2, for the 28th of August.

1/ Ob-La-De Ob-La-Da Page 183. Just a few suggestion that I hope will make playing the chorus a lot easier. Firstly if you play the G chord by barring across the first three strings on the 2nd fret and then use your index finger on the 2nd string 3rd fret and you have G.
Now when you need to change from G to Bm keep your pointer barred and use your ring
finger to reach the 4th string 4th fret and you have Bm. Then from Bm to Em you keep the barre again and move your index and ring finger onto the 2nd and 3rd strings to form the Em. Confused? I hope not. Play around with it and it should make it sense.
2/ Home among the gum trees. Page 110. The chorus on this isn't written very well but if you give each chord two beats or a down up down up strum for each chord it plays better.
(right here is when my computer died)
3/ All I have to do is dream page 16
4/ Moondance requested by Robyn. Page 172.
5/ Sadie
6/ When the saints 263
7/ He's got the whole world in his hands. Page 106
8/ Ring of fire. Pg. 197
9/ A hard days night
10/ Do wah ditty ditty. pg. 70
11/ Love me tender. pg 167. It's been 35 years since he passed away.
12/ Morning town ride.
13/ You shook me all night long. pg. 275

Reserves
1/ Leaving on a jet plane
2/ Banana boat
3/ My Bonnie.
What do you think?
Any comments of questions feel free.

Cya on the 28th Cheers.
Now I off to practice Moondance, that Am7 looks a toughie.

Yellow please.

Just a little story from The Kala Brand Music facebook page and they're oh so cute.

"We will have a new line of Solid Mahogany Light models available soon. These will be made in natural mahogany. We are considering doing a short run of mahogany models in a variety of tints. Here are a few of the prototypes of the tinted mahogany sopranos. Any interest? Fave color? What sizes should we offer this option on?"

If they made a yellow concert ukulele I'd buy two I think...
